The day everything changed
When our little lad was born last month, it was the most profoundly moving experience of my life.
The little guy came into the world after we were in hospital for nearly six days. But that was nothing: we had already waited five years for this miracle. A long journey had brought us to this point and we were beside ourselves with joy. He didn’t want to come out easily, but once he was there and gave his first little cry, we both immediately felt an overwhelming love for our son. This little dude was so tiny and so delicate, and he was perfect.
The experience of seeing our boy come into the world was something I could never put into words so I won’t even try to diminish it by going into details. That will remain an intense personal experience that I’ll never forget, shared only with my amazing partner and the incredible staff who helped us get through it. I’ll never forget the look of love on my partner’s face when our boy was placed on her for the first time. Nor will I forget the tears of joy from all the staff who had learned of our five year journey and shared in our experience.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped us on our journey, especially the maternity staff who were just amazing. Despite the Corona virus pandemic putting parts of the hospital into lock-down, the staff continued to provide exceptional care and we could not have asked for anything more.
This journey is one we’ve waited for such a long time and I’m beyond excited for the years ahead!
